ABOUT ME

Angi L McNeill was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi at Singing River Hospital. She has created stories since she was about three years old, and began writing poetry at age 12. After losing her older sister in vehicle accident writing was very cathartic, and McNeill started her first book at sixteen.
Angi is a single mother who has successfully raised three daughters, who are now grown.  While raising these daughters and working at non-profits for almost 20 years, McNeill managed to finish her Bachelor of Arts in Creative Writing in 2001 from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She was on the National Dean’s List 10 semesters during that time and was invited by professors to join Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. Angi enjoyed working several semesters in the Writing Center at UALR helping other students. She also had an internship where she taught poetry to children in the low income summer programs of Little Rock, Ar. Under the pen name Angi Emerson, she published several poems in the Equinox, a UALR journal.
She also created, wrote, illustrated and edited a newsletter for over 5 years at her job helping individuals with disabilities. She has created various databases and websites at her jobs as well.
In February 2018, while working full time, Angi developed Metastatic Breast Cancer.  The type of Breast Cancer was invasive and was already in lymph nodes, her liver, and a rib. In July 2018, the cancer moved to her brain. This has taken her journey in a new direction. Angi completed six cycles, one every 3 weeks, of Taxotere, Carboplatin, Herceptin and Perjeta.  Then she did  Xeloda, Herceptin and Perjeta for another six cycles. She had a modified Right Mastectomy and Radiation to her rib and brain. As of her scans of November 2018, she had no further tumors.  She currently receives an infusion to keep the tumors from building.  The infusion causes some stomach upset, increases arthritis pain and chronic fatigue.  Angi is now a grandmother to a beautiful boy, active in recovery and hopes to build a freelance writing, voice and speaking platform to supplement her income.
